WITH ALL OF YOUR CREW BEFORE BOARDING THE VESSEL
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What time do we leave the docks?
One of the reasons we are based out of beautiful Channel Islands Harbor is because of a fairly predictable prevailing West wind that usually starts up right around or just after lunch time.
(Does not apply to Memorial Services - please see below).
Weather?
As experienced sailors we always keep an eye on the weather, we'll let you know the forecast a day or so before your scheduled charter. Please keep in mind we want you to have the best experience possible and although it is rare there will be times we will suggest rescheduling due to inclement weather or sea state.
How many passengers can sail on the vessel?
We operate under the United States Coast Guard OUPV regulations
and are limited to a maximum number of (6) six passengers onboard
(Captain & crew not included).
What is a Private Day Sail?
This means you will not be sharing the boat with any strangers . . .
it's just you, your party, the Captain & 1st Mate.
What should we wear & bring?
We recommend you dress in layers (sweatshirts & windbreakers work great).
Shorts are fine but you might want to bring a pair of long pants just in case.
Highly recommended: SUNSCREEN, SUNGLASSES & A HAT.
During the winter months; a medium to heavy jacket, gloves, ski cap and a scarf.
Don't forget your camera but please make sure you have it tethered or stowed securely.
This advice applies to cellphones, sunglasses, car keys or any other valuable items
you'd rather not donate to King Neptune!
Sail 805, its Captain and crew are NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost, damaged or misplaced items.
Do I need boat shoes?
No, but wear'm if you've got'm!
Most athletic shoes (sneakers, tennis, cross trainers etc) all work great on the boat.
You may wear sandals, flip-flops or go bare-foot but do so at your own risk.
It's crazy we have to write this but absolutely no high heels,
boots (work, army, cowboy...ski etc.)
or any footwear that will scuff or mar the boat.
Food & beverage?
Sailing on an empty stomach is not recommended but please do try to keep it on the light side
(avoid fatty, heavy or greasy foods).
You may bring your own snacks & beverages and enjoy them under sail but please remember
that the boat heels (leans) underway which can make eating & drinking underway a bit of a challenge.
*Please note stowage space onboard is limited, we can usually find space for small to medium size coolers, larger coolers that are too big to fit down below will have to be left on the dock.
(Soft sided coolers earn bonus points with the Captain!)
Where to meet up?

Vintage Marina - Gate #4
3150 So. Harbor Blvd.
Oxnard, CA 93035
